    I have no idea who Mitch is… but they were some of the best quotes I ever read. Right up there with Twain.

    Cheers.

    if you don’t know who he is, just look him up on youtube, he’s even more funny when you hear him say the stuff.

  9. Dan Mon, 18 Aug 2008 14:09:20 MDT

    Mitch passed away a few years back, but here are some tips for enjoying his stuff to the fullest:
    1.) Don’t read his jokes first, if at all possible (which I guess is nearly impossible if you are reading this, and this site is your first MH experience;
    2.) Try and get an AUDIO file of his stuff. It is much more enjoyable than actually seeing him perform on something like youtube. Mitch Hedberg constantly battled his fear of the stage and I think, personally, if you can just hear his delivery as opposed to seeing it, you will get more out of it. He performed infront of huge crowds and on TV, and you could see him get shaken sometimes, which sort of took away from my ability to enjoy his jokes;
    3.) After you hear his voice and delivery, start googling more of his jokes, and when you read em, they become a thousand times more funny when you can imagine how he would have delivered them. Anyone who has heard his stuff first-hand knows what I am talking about. Mitch was the man. (My favorite: I own a cheese-shredder, which is it’s positive name. They don’t call it by it’s negative name, which is a “spunge ruiner”.)
    RIP Mitch, we miss ya man..

    they say the recipe for sprite is lemon and lime, but I tried to make it at home, and there’s more to it than that…

    Hey, you want some more home made sprite?

    Not till you figure out what the fuck else is in it!!!

    Mitch!!!

    Totally agree with Dan,

    His jokes are so much funnier when its Mitch’s voice narrating them to you.

    RIP Mitch

    Holy crap were these hillarious! I barely stopped laughing when another one made me laugh. Good stuff.

  13. Tina Tue, 02 Dec 2008 20:11:38 MST

    I totally agree…his delivery made his jokes so much funnier. I miss him and wonder how much we’re missing now that he’s gone… He was awesome.

    I’ve heard Bob & Tom talk about Mitch, but never heard his stuff. Then I caught him on Comedy Central, and laughed so hard my kids thought I was losing it. I wish I would have known about him when he was alive… I’d have paid anything to go see him. And yes, you get a lot more out of it when you hear him do it rather than reading it. Thanks for the laughs, Mitch. We lost a lot when we lost you.

    I’ve known about Mitch before comedy central started to air his stand-up. I’d have to disagree with Dan about his stage presence since I think it adds to his style, and I perceive it to be what makes him stand out. Anyway, I feel fortunate to have seen him perform at IUP of PA. Though it’s awesome to see that people are still tapping into him, it’s a shame to loose such great tallent as he was just starting to “get big”.

  17. Jeff York Sun, 18 Jan 2009 13:07:09 MST

    I never get tired of reading Mitch’s jokes, but seeing and hearing him and his delivery makes them so much better. I have about every CD / DVD he made. I enjoy going to You Tube and seeing some of his show’s on Letterman or at some comedy clubs. I love it when he screws up a joke or starts talking with his audience about some of them not getting his jokes. Mitch – R.I.P. man, you’re the best.
