Pandora’s Box
Some feverish miscreant has managed to upload all six episodes of Adam Curtis’ Pandora’s Box documentary to the youtube. It has a similar theme to his later Century of the Self, but it’s still worth watching.
Episode 1 - The Engineer’s Plot
Episode 2 - To The Brink of Eternity
Episode 3 - The League of Gentlemen
Episode 4 - Goodbye Mrs Ant
Episode 5 - Black Power
Episode 6 - A Is For Atom
Japanese Lowell George Fans
I love Little Feat. They are my all time favorite band. It’s not surprising for me to learn that Lowell George has admirers in Japan. He was a truly unique composer, vocalist, and slide guitarist. Thankfully, you can still enjoy Lowell’s music in the current incarnation of Little Feat. I will be heading to Aptos on May 26th to see them perform.

Not to be outdone by the vociferous Ivo, I managed to take a video of me knocking about on Austin’s byways and speed it up faster than a squirrel hopped up on magic life elixir. In the year 2038, we’ll all be able to drive this fast, and all food will be eaten in pill form. Well, either that or we’ll all be living in an agrarian society fighting each other with sticks as retribution for our collective avarice. Nevertheless, this video is still a goodun. So, enjoy it while we still have electric power. |
Caldwell Shine - “Today”
Caldwell Shine - “Campfire”

I played with Caldwell Shine tonight at Hickory Street Bar and Grill. It was a pretty neat little gig. I won four free Woodchuck Granny Smiths and a one dollar tip as a barter for hauling in the old Hipgig. There were a lot of firsts at the big rock show too. This was the first gig with Caldwell, the first time using the Hipgig at a venue, first time playing at Hickory Street, first time an Arby’s employee ever gave me downtown Austin parking tips, and the first time someone tried to sell me size 13 shoes at a bus stop (Sorry, I wear a 10.5!). All of this really happened. Thanks to Ali, JQT, BJ, and Melissa for coming out. |
