Bitlbee 0.92 with Hanji Patches for Redhat 9.0
Hanji created some cool patches for Bitlbee that add AIM typing notification, HTML Escape, /notice Autoreply, and working AIM info commands to 0.92. I applied his all patch, and re-packaged my Bitlbee 0.92 Redhat 9 RPM with the patches included. You can download it here: http://involution.com/rpms/bitlbee-0.92-hoyhoy1-all-hanji-patches.i386.rpm
Desktop Search Tools
Hmmmm, now Yahoo! has released a desktop search tool to compete with Google’s desktop search tool. Red Hat Linux has had the “locate” tool for some time now, and it works well enough. I guess it could be made easier, but I don’t understand what the big deal is here. Convergence between intraweb and local machine search? I guess anything is better than that silly searchin’ cat that Microvole shipped with XP. Imma keep using locate and find, you kids go on now with your desktop search agents and search kitties.
RHEL4 Beta1
Hmmm, I didn’t realize this, but RHEL4 Beta 1 is out. You (Decibel) can download it here.

RHCE / Drumming Article / ntp2wallclock
I managed to pass the RHCE on Friday March 12. It was a lot fun taking the class and filling in the random gaps in my knowledge.
In other news, I wrote another little article about some of the drummers to whom I enjoy listening.
I had a conversation with some 1337 Austin h4×0rs about how to build some type of contraption to sync an analog battery powered wall clock to an ntp server like time.nist.gov automatically using an assorted cadre of googaws and doodads. It’s not really an article, but a long drawn out chat transcript here.
Bitlbee 0.84
I managed to put the Bitlbee 0.84 in my RPM archive on uberh4×0r last night. You can enjoy the 1337ness of using AIM, Y!, ICQ, MSN, and Jabber all from the comfort of your favorite irc client (e.g. irssi) by installing this simple rpm:
Promise SX4000
I added an article on what I did to get the Promise SX4000 to work on Redhat 9.
Bitlbee 0.83 RPM
