Cowsay
Most people know that I’m a software fiend. Especially a _FREE_ software fiend. I think I may have found the best piece of free software ever! More important than Linux or Emacs by at least four. It’s called cowsay. And it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread and/or cathode ray tubes. Definitely worth a trophy, and perhaps even a pizza trophy. I’m rambling now. Is it time for bed yet?
Distributed Folding
Deano managed to get me to run the distributed folding client on a couple of boxes here at involution.com headquarters. I’m on Ars Technica Team Stir Fry.
Updated Command Line Guide
I just added a couple of examples to the Command-line Guide. Mostly so I won’t forget them.
Bogofilter
I just added Bogofilter to my spam fighting arsenal and autolearning scripts tonight.
Spam Fighting Article
I wrote a little article about how I’m preventing spam (unsolicited advertisements) from reaching my inbox.
ATI
I’ve been an ATI fan since 1998. I used their very first 32 MB consumer card in Meson, the venerable AMD K6-2 system that I built in college that still runs in my apartment to this day. I always thought ATI was the bee’s knees because their DVD hardware is absolutely beyond reproach. Well, my windows machine died, yadda yadda yadda, and now, no matter what I do, I can’t get the DVD player to work! Fhqwhgads! I tried version 3.2, 4.1, 7.0, 7.6, and the new decoder is MIA on their web site. The link on the multimedia driver page is 404′d. What’s going on in “Canadia”?
GKRellM Timers
I found a cool little plugin that allows you to add timers to GKRellM.
