Iptables Demo Human Translated to Spanish
An involution.com reader translated my iptables demo presentation slides into spanish. I finally got to edit the text files into html today.
AWStats 5.3 Beta
It looks like AWStats released a new 5.3 beta on 12/21. The most interesting new features are that there is now a GeoIP cache and a “Full List” option for the country/domain reports.
Nmap Statistics
Ian Vitek created a useful nmap patch that adds much-needed statistics to the utility. Nmap sometimes takes up to 10 minutes to complete a scan of an IP address on a slow connection. His patch adds the “-c” option that gives you an idea of how long the scan will take along with other useful information.
I Like It: Canon Powershot S230
In October, I bought a 2 Megapixel Canon Powershot S200 based on several reviews that I had read. I couldn’t be happier with the camera. It’s portable, takes great pictures, has an all metal body, and uses CompactFlash cards. I guess Canon just released a S230 which is identical to the S200 but with 3.2 Megapixels, a faster burst mode, and faster processor. Tom’s Hardware just took a look at the new camera yesterday.
Bah
OK, enough of the red and green. My Grandpap thought it had something to do with the Italian flag.
2.4.20-rc4 becomes 2.4.20
Looks like Marcelo released 2.4.20-rc4 as 2.4.20. I’d been running with these 2.4.20 prerelease and rc-kernels for sometime now with no problems. On Tuesday, I even managed to boot 2.5.49um1 in usermode on 2.4.18.
In Bellaire
I managed to make it into Bellaire last night after a hair-raising landing at Pittsburgh International Airport.
Christmas Eve…
Merry Christmas! Just switched over to the Christmas Theme and noticed that involution.com is headed for 5,000 unique visitors for the first month ever. Thanks to everyone who visits!
SNES CDROM
I’m old enough to remember when all of this hoopla was running rampant in the gaming magazines. I even recall an issue of Nintendo Power that described this new shiny CDROM unit for the Super Nintendo. There’s been some rumors floating around about Nintendo and the SNES CDROM today for some reason. Here’s a scan of an article talking about the never produced cdrom add-on for the Super Nintendo.
